2010 Program

Stamford Showcase- by Margie Pinto-Leite
This Saturday at Stamford's Trailblazers School, eleven teams from across Stamford will demonstrate a little of what they've been doing for the past five months. Each team's final solution will be performed and judged on March 27 in Bethel, CT. Saturday's Showcase will allow teams to do a "practice run-through" sans ju...dges, but in front of viewers. Many (if not most) of the teams still have many aspects of their solution yet to complete -costumes to finish, sets to design, forms to fill out, signs to prepare, and even mechanical wrinkles yet to iron out. This Saturday's showcase, however, will give each team an opportunity to self-assess progress, and determine glitches that may arise at the actual competition. Above all, we hope that the Showcase will provide an opportunity for teams to feel proud of the MANY accomplishments they've had thus far - AND share their trials and tribulations with other teams. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND, and, in fact, attendance has already been confirmed by Mayor Pavia, Senator McDonald, some state representatives, Board of Education members, and - of course - friends and family of the many team members and coaches who have poured their hearts into OM for the past several months. Enjoy! And good luck.

CT Competition by Margie Pinto-Leite
CONGRATULATIONS to all the state competitors! As a coach who, like you, spent the entire day in Bethel Saturday, I was rewarded and overwhelmed by the creativity I witnessed. Even more rewarding was seeing two of our own Stamford teams place in one of the top three spots. Westover came in 3d place for their division in... the Gift of Flight problem. Roxbury came in 2nd place for their division in the Food Court problem. Roxbury's win qualifies them for the World Finals in Michigan this May! PLEASE STAY TUNED TO FB FOR MESSAGES ABOUT HOW YOU CAN HELP WITH THE FUNDING OF THEIR TRIP! I feel proud of our Stamford teams, as I'm sure you all do too. Win or lose, every team should feel proud of their achievement. If you have any photos/video to share, feel free to post it here. I will do so as well when I have a little time later. Congrats to all on a job well done!

World Finals by Margie Pinto-Leite

I am WAY late in updating here! I was fortunate enough to get to go to the World Finals in Michigan, and it was one amazing ride! I am so proud of our Stamford teams (and Roxbury tied for FOURTH IN THE WORLD!). The World Finals was an overflow of unbelievable creativity, talent and excitement. And the teams met kids fr...om all over the world (thanks to pin-trading).

Our thanks to these and all of the volunteers that maked Odyssey of the Mind happen this year. There was great excitement around the program with 100 participants in its first year and the team is looking forward with anticipation to next year.

Prospective volunteers can contact Regan Allan at   for more information.
