FOOTBALL CAMP
SYF is pleased to announce that it is hosting Football University's invitation only football camp for students in grades 6 to 11 from June 18-20 at Westhill High School.
The creators of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl have started a new kind of football camp. Football University (FBU) is invitation-only and considered by many experts as the nation's most complete football training camp experience. Sports Illustrated and Rivals calls Football University "elite". This is the camp that trains the majority of All-Americans and provides college exposure to more than 400 schools. FIELD HOCKEY CAMP
For Summer 2010 SYF will offer a field hockey camp being run by Lauren Tamborino and Mary Michalidis, similar to Summers 2008 and 2009. Dates are July 12-16 from 8:30am to 12:30pm at SHS Boyle Stadium.

The camps below are presented for informational purposes and reflect area camps in activities that are sponsored by SYF.
BOYS LACROSSE
Stamford Youth Lacrosse Association: Dates June 28-30 Times: 9:00am to 12:00pm at SHS Upper Field for boys in Grades 2-7 and 1:00pm to 4:00pm for boys in Grades 8-12. ALL PLAYERS WILL NEED EQUIPMENT. Girls will need a stick, goggles and a mouthguard. Boys will need helmets, arm pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and a mouthguard. There will be a limited amount of rental equipment for boys in grades 1-6. The middle school kids will be able to rent their equipment for a fee of $35 for the camp. The camp will emphasize skills such as catching, throwing and shooting, as well as one on one strategies and offensive and defensive individual and team play.
SYLA - Summer League SYLA will also run a Summer League on the following dates: June 30 through August 18 on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:15pm for boys in grades 6-8 and from 6:30-7:45pm for boys in grades 9-12. Dates are: 6/30, July 7,14,21,28 and August 4, 11 and 18. Location is tentatively Stamford High, Upper Field. Fee is $150 per player. All players receive a team jersey. GIRLS LACROSSE
CT LAX Camps: Girls lacrosse camps will be offerred by Kristin Wood, head coach of New Canaan High School girls lacrosse for players in grades 1 through 8. Camps run from June 22-25; June 28-July 1. Gamebreaker Lacrosse Camps (at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield) Girls camp from July 25-28. Campers can be overnight or extended day and will be divided into groups by age and ability. Returning to direct this camp is Sacred Heart head coach Laura Cook. This is Laura's 10th season directing this camp. The camp staff is comprised of local high school and college coaches and NCAA players.

Crusader Baseball School Camp is run under the direction of Tracy Nichols and Mike Walsh at Trinity Catholic High School. It is for little league players ages 6-12. Weeks are June 28-July 2 and July 5-9 from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Cost is $185 per session, $350 for both. Discounts are available if more than 1 child per family attends. Bobby Valentines Sports Academy (and New Canaan Baseball): Weekly 4 day (M-Th) camps are offerred for players ages 5-14. Programs begin June 28 and end August 16 from 9:00am to 2:30pm. VOLLEYBALL
MVP Sports: Led by Stamford High School Coach Mike Smeriglio and a team of high school coaches. Two one week camps. Week 1 is July 19-23 for girls grades 6-12 and Week 2 is July 26-30 for girls grades 8-12. Cost is $175 if registered before June 15 and $195 after that. Additional information can be obtained at

FOOTBALL
NY Giants Camp: This is a non-contact camp for ages 6-14. It will teach children to run, throw, catch and defend. The camp is expected to feature former Giants Billy Ard, Eric Dorsey, Sam Garnes and Charles Way among the instructors. Dates are July 19-23 at Stamford High School. The camp is offerred at other area locations during alternative weeks. Camp fee is $445 with early bird discount available. Joe Nameth/John Dockery Camp: Full contact camp that is broken down into 3 divisions based on size, ability and previous playing experience. It may be sleepover or day camp. Ages 8-18. Located at Western Connecticut State College in Danbury, CT. The 2010 camp runs from June 27-July 2. Fees are $775 for overnight and $475 for day campers. CHESS
USA Chess - Greenwich Academy: USA Chess is a national organization that sponsors summer camps among its chess related offerings. A chess camp is sponsored by USA Chess at Greenwich Academy August 2-6, 2010. Camps are full day or 1/2 day (morning and afternoon options). This is the only Connecticut camp offerred. ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT
Reading Skills and Speed Reading Programs sponsored by University College at Fairfield University, a non-profit organization. Classes are taught by professional instructors from the Institute of Reading Development, and are located at University of Bridgeport in Stamford (5 Riverbend Drive). Eagle Hill School Summer academic programs designed for children experiencing academic challenges. June 30 - August 6. Offered is a 5.5-week program and 2-week workshops, as well as an extended day program. For further information go to www.eaglehillschool.org and click on "Other Programs". King School - Summer Institute Offered are 6-week math and science credit classes taught primarily by King faculty. Also offered are two 3-week academic sessions for middle and high school students and two 1-week sessions for preK and elementary. Sessions run June 21 - August 6. GENERAL FITNESS
Camp Soundwaters Outdoor fun on Long Island Sound for grades K-9. Camps include:
** Small Boat Sailing: 1-week sessions 9:00am-5:00pm; Boats are Optimists (grades 4-6) and Pixels (grades 5-8, advanced)
** Sea Stars & Bluefish: 1-week and 2-week sessions for grades 2-5; Hands on experiments, swimming, fun activities, live animals
** Schooner Adventure: a 2-week long sailing adventure; two night island campout, swimming, etc aboard the Schooner Soundwaters Grades 6-9.

Pathfinders Adventure Camp Sponsored by the Mayor's Youth Services Bureau this all-day camp runs from June 28 through August 13, and can be attended in weekly increments or for the entire summer. Ages 10-14. It offers a variety of activities for campers, including ropes course, hiking, rock climbing, hiking, art, computers, game room, mountain biking, dance & drama, cheerleading, swimming, etc. The camp is based at Cloonan Middle School. Costs range from $200/week to $1,000 for all 7 weeks. Registration forms can be picked up in the Government Center Lobby at 888 Washington Boulevard in Stamford.
